Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on a contract running until June 2029.
The 23-year-old Georgia international, who was linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, requested to leave Serie A leaders Napoli last week after contract extension talks broke down.
While the transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, reports suggest PSG paid €70 million (£59 million) plus add-ons for the winger.
“It’s a dream to be here,” Kvaratskhelia said upon joining the French champions. “I’ve heard so many positive things about PSG. I feel immense pride in joining this great club, and I’m really looking forward to wearing my new colours.”
Kvaratskhelia, who played a key role in helping Georgia reach the last 16 at Euro 2024, earned the nickname ‘Kvaradona’ from Napoli fans after their Serie A title-winning campaign, a nod to the legendary Diego Maradona.
Since joining Napoli in 2022 for £9 million from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi, Kvaratskhelia has contributed 54 goals and assists in 107 appearances.
Kvaratskhelia becomes PSG’s first signing of the January transfer window and the first Georgian player in the club’s history.
“Khvicha is one of the most exciting players in world football – a fantastic talent, but also a player who has courage and fights for the team above all else,” PSG said in a statement.
PSG are currently seven points clear of Marseille at the top of Ligue 1 and will face Lens away on Saturday, before hosting Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.
