President Mahama to Appoint New Leaders for Local Governance Restructuring
- New MMDCE appointments will be made within two weeks
- President Mahama is replacing all recently revoked MMDCEs
- The NDC is screening prospective candidates for the positions
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has announced that the President will appoint new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) within the next two weeks.
This move follows the recent revocation of current MMDCE appointments.
Ashie Moore shared that President John Dramani Mahama is set to replace the terminated officials as part of a larger effort to restructure local governance. Speaking to Citi News on January 8, 2025, he urged NDC supporters to be patient during the process, assuring that the appointments will be handled with care to select capable leaders.
“We are also screening prospective candidates this week as part of the party’s machinery. I can confidently assure party members, particularly in my region, that within the next 14 days, we will have new MMDCEs in place. We ask for their cooperation,” he said.
