President John Dramani Mahama has called on Czech businesses to partner with Ghana in advancing tram and light rail networks in Accra and Kumasi, a key element of his administration’s $10 billion “Big Push” infrastructure plan.

Speaking at the Czech-Ghana Business Cooperation Seminar on Wednesday, April 9, Mahama emphasized the importance of these urban transport systems in alleviating mobility issues and enhancing economic activities, particularly under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He highlighted Ghana’s commitment to becoming a key player in continental trade and noted that robust infrastructure is essential for achieving this vision.

“As a host of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Ghana is fortifying its transportation and logistics networks as part of my government’s $10 billion Big Push initiative to improve local and international trade flow,” Mahama explained. “Czech companies, with their expertise in integrated transport systems, have a pivotal role to play in the development of tram and light rail systems for Accra and Kumasi.”
