President Mahama Reaffirms Commitment to Resolving the Bawku Conflict

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace in Bawku, stressing that it remains one of his top priorities.

Speaking during a visit to the region on January 14, 2025, Mahama reassured the community of his government’s determination to bring lasting peace to the area.

Reflecting on his previous pledge, Mahama recalled, “I promised that if elected, peace in Bawku would be one of my foremost priorities.”

This visit marked his first major engagement outside Accra since his inauguration a week ago, and he emphasized that his administration is actively taking steps to address the security concerns in the region.

“We are making key appointments, including ministers and security officials, who will be responsible for overseeing peace efforts,” Mahama noted. He also revealed that in the coming week, key appointments for positions such as the Minister of Defence, Minister of Interior, and National Security Advisor will be made to further strengthen peace efforts.

Mahama urged the people of Bawku to remain patient and assured them that his administration is fully committed to resolving the situation. “I promise to address this issue and bring permanent peace to Bawku with God’s guidance,” he said.
