President John Mahama has ordered an immediate investigation into the tragic deaths of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 and 2024 general elections.
The President instructed the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to launch a comprehensive inquiry into these incidents that have deeply impacted the nation’s democracy.
A letter from Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering justice for the victims and their families.
The investigation will include forming a specialized taskforce within the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to handle the cases.
Eyewitnesses and victims’ families will be interviewed to gather vital evidence, while the government will also review electoral security protocols to pinpoint any failures.
This action is part of the President’s efforts to restore public confidence and ensure the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes.
