  • Despite the strong performances, the coach insists on improving team
  • The Black Stars will regroup in September for crucial matches against Chad and Mali

Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, remains focused on refining his squad despite securing consecutive victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

After a disappointing 2024, the four-time African champions bounced back in 2025 with a dominant 5-0 win over Chad and a solid 3-0 triumph against Madagascar during the March international break.

These results snapped Ghana’s six-game winless streak and propelled them to the top of Group I with 15 points, three ahead of second-placed Comoros.

Despite the turnaround, Addo insists there is still work to be done. “There are areas where we must improve. Our defence was solid, and we scored many goals, but the team’s overall connection needs to be stronger, especially for tougher matches like Mali,” he emphasized.

With four games remaining, the Black Stars are in a strong position to qualify for the World Cup. They will regroup in September for crucial clashes against Chad and Mali as they push to secure their ticket to the global stage.
