After months of deliberations, the bill garnered widespread support from lawmakers, who highlighted the necessity of conserving Ghana’s natural resources and ensuring a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations. On Thursday, January 2, 2nd Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah officially confirmed its passage, stating, “Hon. members, the Environmental Protection Bill 2024 is now read for the third time and passed.”

The bill introduces stringent measures on industrial emissions, waste management, and deforestation, alongside provisions to promote renewable energy and encourage eco-friendly practices among individuals and businesses.
