Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has praised Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, for significantly enhancing the region’s image through substantial infrastructure projects during his tenure.
The commendation came after Osei Mensah presented his accomplishments at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs’ general meeting.
Otumfuo highlighted Osei Mensah’s humility and strong leadership, noting how he maintained harmony within the region despite the power of his office.
He expressed admiration for the minister’s consistent efforts and dedication, including frequent visits with his team, which helped improve his performance.
Otumfuo further urged the minister to continue his work until his term concludes, promising that traditional leaders would find a way to honor his contributions once he leaves office.
Osei Mensah, who has served as the Ashanti Regional Minister since 2017, was reappointed in 2021, making him the first to serve two consecutive terms in this position.
Despite facing criticism for his handling of infrastructure development amid the country’s economic challenges, he outlined several major projects, including 1,178 educational facilities, 74 security stations, and 28 courts, with over 900 educational projects and 21 courts already commissioned.
