Otto Addo Unveils Black Stars Squad as Partey and Kamaldeen Return for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey returns after a six-month absence as Ghana coach Otto Addo announces a strong squad for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Ghana coach Otto Addo has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar, with Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey making a highly anticipated return after a six-month absence.

The squad, captained by Jordan Ayew, features three home-based players: Benjamin Asare (Accra Hearts of Oak), Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC). Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana also makes a comeback, while C.D. Lugo’s Jerry Afriyie retains his place after an impressive showing against Niger last November.

In a notable first-time call-up, Genk’s left-footed right-winger Christopher Bonsu Baah joins the squad, adding depth to Ghana’s attacking options.

The Black Stars will commence training on Monday, March 17, 2025, in preparation for their home clash against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21. The team will then travel to Morocco for their second match against Madagascar on Monday, March 24.

Currently sitting second in Group I with nine points from four games, Ghana aims to strengthen its position in the race for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
