The government has sent a joint team of police and military personnel to Nkwanta in the Oti Region following deadly clashes believed to be linked to a chieftaincy dispute.
The violence, which began on Wednesday, January 15, and stretched into the night of Thursday, January 16, has resulted in three fatalities and several injuries.
The ongoing unrest has left residents living in fear, with sporadic gunfire reported from unidentified sources.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed that security forces were first deployed last night to restore peace, and additional troops will be sent today to ensure law and order is maintained in the area.
