Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has revealed the reason for GFA President Kurt Okraku’s absence from recent high-profile meetings following the violent clashes at the Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko SC game.
The violence resulted in the death of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong, who was stabbed during the incident. Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
Oduro Sarfo made the explanation during a meeting between GFA Executive Council members, the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), and Asante Kotoko leadership.
During the meeting, Kotoko Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra Awuah criticized the GFA and GHALCA for not consulting Kotoko before holding meetings with other stakeholders, given that Kotoko was the directly affected party.
Amidst the numerous interviews conducted since Pooley’s death, President Okraku has been notably absent.
