Mobile money vendors in Kumasi are working under a cloud of fear following the tragic shooting death of their colleague, Patricia Nimako, last week.

Lawson News visited vendors today, particularly in the Krofrom area where the incident occurred, and discovered that the atmosphere is tense.

Many vendors expressed their fears for their safety, revealing that they now close their businesses earlier than usual. Instead of working until 11 PM, they now lock up by 8 PM.

The vendors voiced their frustration with the Ghana Police Service, claiming that, following the incident, officers only conducted investigations but failed to take steps to ensure their protection.

Some market women have even moved their operations to other centers in search of safer environments.

Business has taken a hit since the shooting, as vendors struggle to carry on under the shadow of the attack.

Patricia Nimako was tragically shot by unknown assailants at her kiosk in Krofrom on Thursday, February 13, at around 2:30 PM, shortly after withdrawing money from the bank.

The police have yet to release an official statement regarding the progress of the investigation.
