NPP Postpones Adwoa Safo’s Scheduled Appearance Before the Disciplinary Committee
Party Cites Scheduling Adjustments and Internal Considerations for Postponement of Hearing on Media Remarks

- NPP postpones disciplinary hearing for Sarah Adwoa Safo over scheduling conflicts
- The hearing was initially set for April 7, 2025
- Adwoa Safo is under scrutiny for remarks seen as undermining the party's unity post-2024 election defeat
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed the scheduled appearance of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, before its National Disciplinary Committee.
The hearing was initially set for Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the NPP Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra. The party cited “emerging scheduling adjustments and internal considerations” as the reasons for the postponement.
They assured that once a new date is established, Adwoa Safo will be promptly notified.
This development follows the NPP’s decision to refer Adwoa Safo to the Disciplinary Committee over comments she made during a media interview.
The party had previously instructed members to refrain from public discussions that could cause disaffection and unrest within the party. Adwoa Safo’s actions were viewed as undermining the party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.
As a former Deputy Majority Leader and Minister of State under the NPP administration, Adwoa Safo was expected to uphold principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity.
The party emphasized that her failure to adhere to these principles not only reflected poorly on her but also contravened Article 3(5) of the NPP’s constitution, which enjoins members to promote and defend the party’s good name.
The postponement of her disciplinary hearing adds to the ongoing tensions within the NPP, as internal divisions continue to surface following the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
The NPP has been striving to consolidate unity among its members, cautioning against public utterances that could deepen internal divisions.
It remains to be seen when the disciplinary hearing will be rescheduled and what outcomes may arise from the proceedings.
