Story Highlights
  • NDC candidate Kwasi Adusei claims NPP’s Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh and the EC returning officer are romantically involved

  • Adusei has handed the case over to his legal team to determine the next steps

Kwasi Adusei, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Ahafo Ano North in the 2024 elections, has rejected the re-collated results that declared Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner.

The re-collation followed a chaotic and violent scene at the Ahafo Ano North Collation Centre in Tepa, which disrupted the initial results. Agyemang-Prempeh won by a narrow margin, securing 20,353 votes compared to Adusei’s 20,232.

The Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the re-collation under tight security at its Greater Accra office, ensuring a transparent process.

However, Adusei who was speaking with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen show claimed that Ahafo Ano North still lacks a legitimate MP, stating that the election was never properly collated, and the declaration of Agyemang-Prempeh’s victory was tainted by external influences from the military and police.

“You cannot declare someone an MP-elect when their victory is swayed by the influence of soldiers and police. This is against the law of the land. The NPP is dragging us back to the days of military coups.”

Adusei also alleged a personal scandal, claiming that Agyemang-Prempeh and the EC returning officer are romantically involved.

He said that evidence of their relationship was found in the returning officer’s phone after she abandoned it in a rush during the violent unrest.

Adusei revealed that the matter is now in the hands of his legal team, who will determine the next course of action.
