Stephen Ayensu Ntim, the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a temporary leave from all party-related responsibilities due to serious health concerns, according to a formal request from his family.

In a letter dated June 16, 2025, and addressed to the NPP Council of Elders, Ntim’s family urged the party to grant him immediate time off to focus on his health.
The correspondence highlights his unwavering service to the NPP over the years, from his role as First National Deputy Chairman to his current leadership position.
The family expressed deep concern over Mr. Ntim’s declining condition, noting that he is currently experiencing significant mental and cognitive challenges. Describing his state as one of “mental incapacitation” and “cognitive dissonance,” they emphasized the urgent need for medical intervention and rest.
Signed by several family members, including Family Head Kingsley Oteng and Member of Parliament Adelaide Ntim, the letter strongly discouraged his involvement in any political duties—especially a high-level NPP meeting scheduled for June 17 at the Alisa Hotel, which he was slated to chair.
They cautioned that participation in such demanding events would not only endanger his health but also violate his right to proper medical care and personal well-being.
“It is common sense that Steve be granted immediate relief from political and intra-party activities to focus on recovery and essential medical treatment,” the letter stressed.
The family concluded by appealing to the party’s leadership to prioritize Mr. Ntim’s health and well-being, granting him the necessary space to recuperate while further decisions about his role in the party are considered.
