Stanley Afaku, a 36-year-old infamous Nigerian armed robber, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for attacking a security guard at Sekondi’s Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The Sekondi Circuit Court, under Her Honour Naa Amberley Akowuah, convicted Afaku after he pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
In addition to the prison term, the court ordered that Afaku be deported by the Ghana Immigration Service upon completion of his sentence.
Afaku’s accomplice, Samuel Nickson—also known as Egya Acquah—denied involvement in the crime and remains in police custody, facing separate robbery charges. He is scheduled to return to court on June 24, 2025.
According to a press release by Superintendent of Police Olivia Awurabena Adiku, the duo held Nash Arthur, a hospital security guard, at gunpoint on February 23, 2025, restraining him with his own shirt and stealing his phone.
They then proceeded to the hospital’s Out-Patient Department pharmacy, where they stole a flat-screen TV.
Afaku was arrested on June 4, 2025, in Esiama Bafana ghetto following intelligence leads. During interrogation, he confessed and implicated Nickson as his partner in the crime.
