No Room for Complacency: Otto Addo Urges Black Stars to Stay Focused Despite Win Over Madagascar
Coach Warns Against Overconfidence as Ghana Pushes for World Cup Qualification

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has cautioned his team against complacency after their dominant 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Monday.
Ghana delivered a commanding performance at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco, with goals from Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, all assisted by Jordan Ayew, securing a crucial win that solidified their lead in Group I.
Despite the triumph, Addo remains wary and insists that qualification is far from guaranteed.
“We are in a good position, but this is also dangerous,” Addo stated during the post-match press conference. “The job is really not done. If Comoros wins, the gap is just three points, and we still have a long way to go. If anyone thinks we are through, they are making a big mistake.”
With four matches left in the qualifiers, Addo stressed the need for focus and discipline, warning against overconfidence as the Black Stars prepare for crucial clashes against Chad and Mali.
