- Vanderpuye claims Akufo-Addo's presidency leaves no substantial legacy
Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, has sharply criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, claiming that the outgoing president leaves no substantial legacy behind.
According to Vanderpuye, Akufo-Addo has resorted to self-praise and exaggerated claims rather than delivering meaningful accomplishments during his time in office.
In a recent interview, Vanderpuye stated, “The President consistently praised himself, even when he didn’t deserve such recognition, and presented misleading figures and scenarios.”
The MP also expressed disappointment in Akufo-Addo’s approach to sports development, accusing the administration of neglecting the sector and failing to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
His comments were made after Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address, where the president reflected on his tenure. Vanderpuye highlighted that Akufo-Addo’s performance in areas like youth development and sports was poor, despite claims of interventions such as NABCO and “planting for food and jobs.”
In his address, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the challenges and triumphs of his presidency but emphasized the honor of serving as Ghana’s leader, despite facing difficulties throughout his tenure.
