A police operation in Shiare, Oti Region, on Wednesday morning led to the arrest of fifty individuals connected to the recent resurgence of violence in Nkwanta.
The suspects will undergo screening before being formally charged.
DCOP Osman Abdul Razak, the National Security Coordinator, visited Nkwanta to assess the situation and hold discussions with traditional leaders from the conflicting factions.
In an update on the ongoing security efforts, DCOP Alex Acquah, the Oti Regional Police Commander, reported that the renewed violence has resulted in six fatalities, ten injuries, and the destruction of twelve houses and one shop.
The National Security Coordinator, DCOP Osman Abdul Razak, expressed concern over the ongoing chieftaincy and land disputes in the region, emphasizing the need for improved coordination among security forces to tackle these issues.
Maj Gen Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, Chief of the Army Staff, praised the cooperation between security agencies, highlighting the importance of this united effort to maintain peace and stability in the region.
