The New Force political movement has swiftly suspended Adu Acheampong, a personal security officer to its presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako (widely known as Cheddar), following a viral video showing him assaulting a man at a funeral in Mampong.

Acheampong, known by the nickname “Seven,” was seen forcefully punching an individual who persistently tried to approach Cheddar during the funeral ceremony of the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on June 7, 2025.

In an official statement signed by the movement’s General Secretary, Charles Yomekpe, the New Force condemned the act, calling the use of force “unjustifiable” and confirming the victim was a supporter attempting to engage with the candidate.

Labeling the incident as “deeply regrettable,” the movement emphasized its commitment to democratic values and respectful engagement. A full-scale internal investigation has been launched, and Acheampong will remain on suspension pending its outcome.

As part of the disciplinary process, he has also been enrolled in an anger management programme to help curb similar behavior in the future.

Acheampong has since issued a full, unconditional apology to the individual involved in the altercation.
