Global InfoAnalytics has projected a parliamentary victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections.

The latest forecast suggests that the NDC will secure approximately 150 seats in the 275-seat legislature, giving them a clear majority.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is projected to win 99 seats, while one seat is expected to go to an independent candidate.

Additionally, 29 constituencies remain too close to call, indicating a highly competitive race.

On the presidential side, the report also forecasts a win for NDC leader John Dramani Mahama, who is projected to receive 52.2% of the vote. His main challenger, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, is expected to garner 41.4%. Other candidates, including Alan Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako, are predicted to secure 2.5% and 3.0%, respectively, with 0.9% going to other contenders.

Mahama is expected to win in 10 regions, including Greater Accra, Central, Volta, and Northern, while Bawumia is projected to dominate regions such as Ashanti, Eastern, and North East.

Key Factors and Trends

The analysis attributes the NDC’s projected parliamentary success to shifting voter sentiment in key constituencies, as well as economic and social factors influencing public opinion.

The report anticipates an overall voter turnout of 77.6%, with regional variations expected to play a significant role in the final outcome. With 29 parliamentary seats still too close to call, both major parties face critical battles in these swing constituencies. The NPP’s ability to retain these seats will be crucial in narrowing the projected gap.
