  • Leadership decisions reflect NDC’s strategic focus on stability and readiness for legislative challenges

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, has been appointed as the Majority Leader in Ghana’s 9th Parliament.

This decision stems from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus’s resolution to retain its leadership from the 8th Parliament as they transition into the new legislative session.

Dr. Forson will be supported by Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the MP for Ellembelle, who moves from his role as Deputy Minority Leader to serve as Deputy Majority Leader. Governs Kwame Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, has been designated as the Majority Chief Whip, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, steps into the role of Deputy Majority Chief Whip.

The appointments align with President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s recommendation for the caucus to nominate Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament for the 9th session. Bagbin, who held the Speaker position during the 8th Parliament, continues as a unifying figure within the legislative body.

The NDC finalized this decision after the formal dissolution of the 8th Parliament, signaling confidence in their team to lead effectively and tackle the challenges of the new term.
