The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to hold Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare and other security leaders accountable for any loss of life during the 2024 general elections.

The party has called on the IGP and relevant security agencies to enhance measures that ensure the safety of citizens during the upcoming elections.

At a press conference on November 19, 2024, NDC National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi emphasized the critical need to prevent casualties throughout the electoral process.

He stated, “The NDC, along with the people of Ghana, will hold the IGP, the Chief of Defence Staff, and other security heads responsible for any loss of life in the 2024 general elections. Elections should be about counting heads, not cutting heads. No one should lose their life in the name of elections.”

Gyamfi also expressed confidence in the party’s success, asserting that Ghanaians will choose their candidate, John Dramani Mahama. “We believe that Ghanaians will select a leader who values truth and integrity over one who is fundamentally opposed to honesty,” he concluded.
