Nations Football Club is weighing a possible withdrawal from Ghanaian football following a controversial incident in their recent Premier League match, according to the club’s Brands Manager, Kennedy Boakye Ansah.

The club walked off the pitch during a high-stakes fixture against Holy Stars after a second contentious penalty was awarded to their opponents in the 33rd minute. The decision triggered outrage among Nations FC players and technical staff, leading to an abrupt halt of the match at the Ampain AAK II Arena.

Boakye Ansah voiced deep dissatisfaction with the state of officiating in Ghana football and questioned the value of continuing in the domestic top flight.

“Maybe we might disband Nations FC and forget about running football in this country because it’s not worth it,” he stated. “Whatever we saw today and what we were subjected to, it’s not worth it. We might have to advise ourselves.”

He confirmed that the club intends to file an official protest with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and will await the match commissioner’s report before making any final decisions.

“It depends on the report of the match commissioner, but we will file an official complaint to the GFA, and we will see what decision the FA will take. We are not interested in Ghana football anymore. We are tired,” he added.

The match was critical for Nations FC, managed by Kassim Mingle, who needed at least a point to stay in the title race with just one game left in the season. The walk-off and subsequent fallout now cast uncertainty over the club’s future in Ghanaian football.
