The Minister-Designate for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has vowed to review Ghana’s regional quota system for recruiting into the security services to ensure fairness and inclusivity.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on January 24, Muntaka highlighted concerns about minority groups being sidelined, emphasizing the need for a recruitment process that reflects Ghana’s diverse makeup.

He promised to collaborate with security service leaders, including the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of Ghana Prisons, to assess the system’s effectiveness over the past decades.

Muntaka assured that any lapses would be addressed to promote a balanced and equitable recruitment process in the interest of the nation.

“I’m joining a ministry with highly qualified professionals. Together, we’ll review how things have been done over the years and make the necessary improvements,” he affirmed.
