MTN MoMo Secures Agents with Free Life Insurance in Partnership with Sanlam Allianz and aYo
New initiative provides MoMo agents with financial protection against disability, critical illness, hospitalization, and more—at no cost

MTN MobileMoney Limited (MoMo) has joined forces with Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana Ltd and aYo Intermediaries Ghana Limited to launch a comprehensive, cost-free life insurance package for all MoMo agents across the country.
The annual renewable insurance plan covers permanent and total disability, temporary total disability, critical illness, accidental medical reimbursement, hospitalization, and death benefits. MoMo agents diagnosed with severe health conditions such as stroke, cancer, coma, major burns, heart attack, or kidney failure will receive financial support. Additionally, the plan provides daily hospital cash benefits to assist with medical expenses.
Speaking at the launch, MTN Ghana’s Chief Sales and Distribution Officer, Mr. Samuel Addo, underscored the critical role MoMo agents play in expanding financial inclusion. He noted that this initiative aligns with MobileMoney Ltd’s ongoing efforts to enhance agents’ welfare, complementing previous support such as kiosks, laptops, motorbikes, CCTV cameras, and vehicles.
“At MobileMoney LTD, the safety and well-being of our agents are a priority. This partnership with Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana Ltd and aYo Ghana Intermediaries reinforces our commitment to protect and empower mobile money agents,” Mr. Addo stated.
He also acknowledged the growing security concerns for mobile money agents, who have become frequent targets of armed robbery attacks. He assured agents that MobileMoney LTD is actively working with stakeholders to strengthen security measures beyond just insurance coverage.
Explaining the insurance benefits, MTN’s Chief Commercial Officer for MoMo, Abdul-Razak Ali, emphasized that the insurance comes at no cost to agents since MobileMoney LTD has covered the premium for all.
aYo Ghana CEO, Francis Gota, stressed the importance of financial protection for MoMo agents who work under risky conditions. “Life is unpredictable, and agents often face daily hazards. This insurance package provides financial relief during tough times, giving peace of mind to them and their families.”
Echoing this, Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana Ltd CEO, Tawiah Ben Ahmed, assured agents of swift claim payments, stating, “We are committed to delivering seamless insurance services and ensuring prompt claim settlements to support agents when they need it most.”
MobileMoney LTD, which has over 300,000 MoMo agents nationwide, initially introduced the Agents Insurance Scheme in 2020 as part of its broader strategy to provide a safe and supportive working environment for its network.
With this latest initiative, MTN MoMo continues to reinforce its commitment to the safety, security, and financial well-being of its agents across Ghana.
