MTN Ghana has reinforced its commitment to the growth and progress of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the nation with the introduction of the “MTN SME Accelerate” initiative.
This comprehensive, year-long program, themed “Business Done Smarter, Faster, and Better,” is designed to boost the competitiveness and long-term sustainability of SMEs throughout Ghana.
Speaking on the challenges faced by SMEs, Angela Mensah Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN, highlighted key areas such as digitization, access to finance, and capacity building. To address these critical needs, MTN Ghana has developed a multi-faceted program that includes:
- Expanded Market Activations: Creating opportunities for SMEs to tap into new markets and expand their customer base.
- Capacity-Building Sessions: Providing SMEs with essential skills and knowledge for sustainable business operations.
- Leadership Trainings: Specifically tailored for women entrepreneurs to enhance their leadership capabilities and empower them to drive growth within their organizations.
Recognizing the vital role of women in the SME sector, MTN Ghana has also introduced the “MTN Adwumapa Bundle,” a specialized package for women-led SMEs. This bundle aims to improve network connectivity and offer exclusive access to market opportunities, including SME fairs and pop-up shops.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ms. Margaret Ansei, has lauded MTN Ghana for this significant initiative, describing it as a strategic catalyst for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana. GEA has pledged its commitment to partnering with MTN Business to foster the growth of SMEs and contribute to Ghana’s overall economic development.
The “MTN SME Accelerate” initiative will culminate in the MTN SME GROW AFRICA Awards (SMEGA Awards) at the end of the year, recognizing and celebrating the achievements and performance of participating SMEs throughout the program.
