Minority Leader Demands Answers After Security Operatives From National Security Storm Former BoG Governor’s Residence

Afenyo-Markin visits Dr. Ernest Addison after a shocking raid by armed operatives, vowing to seek accountability from the government.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has visited former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison after his home was stormed by security operatives from the National Security.
The raid, allegedly led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations, took place on Wednesday, March 19, at Dr. Addison’s residence in Roman Ridge, Accra.

Reports indicate that around 20 armed men, some masked and wielding AK-47 rifles, disabled the CCTV system before demanding access to “vaults” they believed were hidden in the house.

Dr. Addison denied having any vaults or large sums of cash, but the operatives allegedly ransacked the home before leaving with the CCTV monitor and control unit.

Afenyo-Markin, the Effutu MP, expressed strong disapproval of the raid, offering his support to the former governor and vowing to demand answers from the government. The incident has left Dr. Addison and his family deeply shaken.

This marks the second high-profile raid under the new administration of President John Mahama. A similar operation was carried out on February 10 at the home of Ghana’s longest-serving Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, further fueling concerns over the targeting of former officials.
