Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, has been reaffirmed as the Member of Parliament for Techiman South after a court-ordered recount at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.

Korsah secured 46,663 votes, defeating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Christopher Bayere Basongti, who garnered 43,429 votes.

The recount was part of a High Court directive compelling the EC to finalize results in several constituencies, including Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South, by January 6, 2025. This decision followed applications by NPP candidates seeking to ensure transparency in the collation process.

In a similar recount, Charles Forson of the NPP was declared the winner for the Tema Central constituency after resolving results from two disputed polling stations.

Mensah Korsah’s victory reinforces his mandate while highlighting the High Court’s pivotal role in safeguarding fairness and accountability in Ghana’s electoral process.
