Boampong pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and was convicted on his own plea by the court presided over by Mrs. Gloria Mensah Bonsu.
The incident occurred on January 10th at Abrafo Kokobeng, near Akropong. The victim, Roudy Aboagye Agyemang, a level 400 student at AAMUSTED, was sleeping in her room when Boampong broke in.
Armed with two pairs of scissors, a plier, a spanner, and a magnetic substance, Boampong threatened the student and demanded her iPhone 7, valued at GH¢1,200.
Fearing for her safety, the student handed over the phone. However, she managed to raise an alarm, and neighbors intervened, apprehending Boampong.
During police investigation, Boampong confessed to the crime. He was subsequently charged and brought before the court.
