Business magnate Daniel McKorley, CEO of McDan Group of Companies, has pledged to increase investment in Ghana’s creative industry, recognizing the talent and potential within the sector.
McKorley stated that Ghanaian creatives are exceptionally talented and hardworking but often lack the necessary financial backing to elevate their careers.
He specifically cited Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy as examples of highly talented African artists, suggesting they rival even top Nigerian acts.
McKorley highlighted the significant financial potential of the creative economy as a key reason for his interest in investing. While noting it’s not his primary area of expertise, he expressed his willingness to act as a “godfather” by providing financial and other support to individuals in the creative space.
He also urged other business leaders to invest in the sector, emphasizing that musicians and other creatives serve as important ambassadors for Ghana.
McKorley pointed to his previous $2 million contract awarded to Ghanaian creative George Quaye in 2022 as an example of his commitment to supporting the industry.
He encouraged the youth to strive for greatness, citing Quaye’s growth as a testament to potential within the creative arts.
