Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid came from behind to defeat Las Palmas 5-1 and move to the top of La Liga.

Las Palmas stunned the home side when Fabio Silva scored a close-range goal to give the visitors a surprise lead.

However, Real Madrid quickly responded, with Mbappe converting a penalty after Sandro Ramirez fouled Rodrygo in the box.

Brahim Diaz then put Real ahead, finishing from a Lucas Vazquez pass, before Mbappe produced a stunning finish, guiding the ball into the net for his 12th league goal of the season, sending Carlo Ancelotti’s side into a commanding 3-1 lead at halftime.

The second half saw Real continue their dominance, with Rodrygo adding a fourth goal in the 57th minute, finishing off a cutback from Fran Garcia.

Las Palmas’ hopes were further dashed when substitute Benito Ramirez was sent off for a studs-up challenge on Vazquez, with a video assistant review upgrading the initial yellow card to a red.

The win lifts Real Madrid to the top of the table, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid, who lost to Leganes on Saturday.

Despite the convincing win, Real had three goals disallowed for offside, including a potential hat-trick goal for Mbappe, while England midfielder Jude Bellingham missed several opportunities.

Looking ahead, Real Madrid will turn their focus to Wednesday’s Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg at home.
