Manchester City has completed the signing of Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri for a fee of £31 million.
The 24-year-old Algeria international has penned a contract with the Premier League champions until 2030 and will be available to feature in the group stage of the upcoming Club World Cup. City is set to begin their campaign in the newly expanded tournament against Moroccan club Wydad AC on June 18.
Ait-Nouri initially joined Wolves in a £14.9 million deal from Angers in 2021, following a season-long loan spell at Molineux. Last term, he made 41 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and seven assists as the club successfully avoided relegation.
He marks Wolves’ second high-profile departure this summer, following Manchester United’s agreement to sign Brazil striker Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million.
City has been active in the transfer market, having already secured a £46.3 million deal to sign AC Milan’s Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, adding to the £200 million spent in the January transfer window.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Ait-Nouri stated: “City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the chance to play for the club is a dream come true. I am excited about working with and learning from Pep Guardiola and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world class group of players.”
Furthermore, City is reportedly in talks to sign English goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea. The 33-year-old has served as third-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge for the past four seasons, and City aims to finalize a deal before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Earlier, City announced that veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson will depart the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer.
