Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a deal worth an initial £46.5 million. The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract and becomes the club’s fourth addition of the summer.
Reijnders joins a growing list of new arrivals at the Etihad, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, and Rayan Cherki. He is expected to be eligible for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States and could make his debut on 18 June against Wydad FC.
“I’m ecstatic to be joining Manchester City,” Reijnders said following the announcement. “This club is one of the best in the world — with top-class players, incredible facilities, and the best coach in the game. Pep Guardiola’s teams have dominated in recent years, and I want to be part of that continued success.”
Capped 23 times for the Netherlands, Reijnders was an unused substitute in their recent 8-0 rout of Malta. Last season, he made a significant impact at Milan, scoring 15 goals in 54 appearances and earning the Serie A Midfielder of the Season award.
Reijnders’ arrival comes as City look to refresh their midfield options following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne. With an eye on reclaiming the Premier League title after finishing third last season, Guardiola will hope Reijnders brings both creativity and control to the heart of his side.
