Former Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Ackon, has fired back at Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin for criticizing President John Mahama’s approach to ministerial appointments, calling it a “tot-tot” method.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio, Hon. Ackon emphasized that President Mahama has a 120-day social contract with Ghanaians, and until that period is complete, no one has the right to complain.
“It is not about hastily naming all the ministers. He has set a time limit, so let’s wait,” he said.
Ackon also praised Mahama’s transition arrangements, describing them as well-executed so far.
President Mahama’s recent round of ministerial appointments, which includes nine cabinet positions and three regional ministers, marks a significant reshaping of the government. These moves are aimed at strengthening crucial sectors such as education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Key appointments include veteran parliamentarian Haruna Iddrisu as Minister of Education, Kwame Governs Agbodza at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ato Forson at the Ministry of Finance, Abu Jinapor at the Ministry of Energy, and Dominic Ayine at the Ministry of Justice.
These appointees have been vetted and are awaiting final approval, marking a key step in the reshaping of Ghana’s political landscape.
