Mahama’s First 3 Months: Dumsor, Fuel Hikes & Galamsey Surge – Miracles Aboagye Blasts Gov’t
The former Akufo-Addo appointee claims the nation is back to ‘dark days’ with rising costs and instability

- Frequent outages (Dumsor) disrupt businesses and households
- Fuel prices and cost of living continue to rise sharply
- Illegal mining worsens, polluting water bodies and defying security forces
Presidential Staffer from the previous Akufo-Addo administration, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has painted a bleak picture of Ghana under President John Mahama’s leadership, just three months into his tenure.
Ahead of the 2025 budget presentation, Aboagye claims the country is grappling with worsening power outages (Dumsor), soaring fuel prices, rampant illegal mining (Galamsey), mass job losses, and skyrocketing costs of goods and services.
In a Facebook post, he alleged that NDC-affiliated “galamsey kingpins” are now openly defying security forces, leading to severe environmental degradation. He further criticized the government for failing to fulfill key promises, including free tertiary education for first-year students.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has urged Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to avoid imposing new taxes in the 2025 budget. They, however, support expanding the tax net to include those who currently evade levies.
As the government prepares to unveil its first budget on March 11, Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has assured Ghanaians that it will reflect the administration’s promises, including scrapping the betting tax and COVID levy, while outlining strategies for economic recovery.
