President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to enhancing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme, promising to address its challenges and improve educational outcomes.

Speaking during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Mr. Mahama highlighted education as a cornerstone of his agenda. He pledged to strengthen the Free SHS initiative by securing dedicated funding and decentralizing food procurement to ensure smoother operations.

“Education will remain a priority. We will work to provide the best possible learning environment for our children at all levels and ensure our youth acquire the skills needed to compete in the global economy,” he said.

In addition, he unveiled plans to introduce a “no academic fees” policy to support continuing students financially and to expand infrastructure at tertiary institutions to accommodate the growing student population.

“These initiatives will offer financial relief to students and enhance access to quality education across the board,” Mr. Mahama affirmed.
