President John Dramani Mahama has called for a thorough investigation into claims of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The allegations were made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, during a press conference on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
In a statement posted on Facebook, President Mahama emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the matter swiftly and with transparency. He has directed key investigative bodies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to collaborate with Rev. Fordjour in thoroughly examining the claims.
The President assured the public that every effort would be made to uncover and tackle drug trafficking activities.
Reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related crimes, President Mahama cited a recent drug bust by the NIB, which seized narcotics worth $350 million. He reiterated Ghana’s firm position against being a transit or destination point for illegal drugs and stressed the importance of protecting the nation’s security and international standing.
