President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the launch of the One Million Coders Programme as a transformative leap toward Ghana’s digital future, calling it a bold step in positioning the nation as a leader in the global tech arena.

At the official launch event on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, President Mahama highlighted the programme’s ambition to train one million Ghanaians in digital literacy and coding skills. He stressed that this initiative isn’t just about education—it’s about laying the groundwork for a modern, tech-driven economy.

“This isn’t just the rollout of a new programme; it’s the cornerstone of a digital revolution,” Mahama said. “With this move, Ghana is planting its flag in the digital space and announcing our readiness to lead.”

He further explained that the initiative goes beyond fulfilling a political pledge. Instead, it is a strategic pillar of the government’s broader Reset Ghana Agenda—a national plan focused on inclusive growth powered by innovation and technology.

“This is a message to our youth, our communities, and the world,” Mahama added. “We’re not waiting for the future to happen—we’re building it, and we’re making sure Ghanaians are ready to thrive in it.”
