Mahama: NPP Using Road Projects to Deceive Voters
Former President Accuses Akufo-Addo's Government of Launching Infrastructure Projects as Political Stunts Ahead of 2024 Elections
- Mahama criticizes NPP for unveiling road projects just before elections
- Accuses Akufo-Addo’s government of using infrastructure to distract voters
- Mahama emphasizes the election is about change, not political gimmicks like interchanges.
John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has fired back at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for unveiling interchanges in the lead-up to the December 7 elections, despite once accusing him of using similar projects for political gain.
Mahama highlighted a 2016 social media post by NPP’s Gabby Otchere-Darko, where he urged voters to prioritize the economy over infrastructure developments designed to win votes.
This, Mahama argues, is in stark contrast to the current government’s strategy of launching key road projects, including the Flowerpot and Obetsebi Lamptey Interchanges, just before the elections.
Speaking in Bawaleshie during his Greater Accra tour, Mahama expressed frustration over the NPP’s hypocrisy, emphasizing that the focus of the election should be on “change” rather than “interchanges.”
He criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to improve the lives of Ghanaians and for leading the country backwards, declaring that the election is about addressing unemployment, economic struggles, and corruption.
