In a move aimed at reinforcing grassroots governance, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 33 candidates for the role of District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Eastern Region.

The nominations were made in line with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

Announced on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the selection underscores the President’s dedication to enhancing local administrative efficiency and empowering district-level leadership.

The nominees, drawn from a range of professional and community backgrounds, were listed by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.

Prominent among them are Kate Mawusi Babanawo for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Moses Tangmee for Kwahu Afram Plains South, and Ernest Owusu Ntim for Atiwa East.

These nominations await confirmation by the respective District Assemblies.
