Today, July 1, President John Dramani Mahama will spearhead Ghana’s very first National Day of Prayer, a groundbreaking event aimed at uniting the nation in spiritual reflection, fostering unity, and reigniting hope amid ongoing social and economic challenges.
The occasion will bring together a diverse group of participants, including religious leaders, political representatives, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens. Interfaith prayers will focus on key themes such as peace, economic revival, national unity, and moral rejuvenation.
The Christian interdenominational service will commence at 8:00 a.m. at the State House forecourt in Accra, followed by the Islamic prayer session at 12:00 noon at the National Mosque, also located in the capital.
The event will be honored by the presence of two distinguished religious figures: His Eminence Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, an influential global Catholic leader and advocate for peace, and His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Ghana’s respected National Chief Imam.
Organizers confirm that all preparations are in place and express confidence that this National Day of Prayer will nurture a renewed spirit of collective responsibility and spiritual guidance for Ghana.
Set to become an annual tradition, the National Day of Prayer will provide a platform for Ghanaians from all faiths to unite in solidarity and seek divine blessings for the nation’s future progress.
