Dr. Akwasi Amakye Boateng has commended President John Dramani Mahama for the caliber of appointees he has selected since assuming office.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio, Dr. Amakye Boateng described the appointees as highly knowledgeable and experienced individuals.
He highlighted that many of them had previously served as substantive and deputy ministers during Mahama’s first term, which reinforces their capacity to deliver.
“President Mahama can personally vouch for the competence of his appointees. He has been deliberate in his selections, and their track record speaks for itself. This team doesn’t need much debate regarding their capability,” Dr. Amakye Boateng remarked.
Expressing his confidence in their performance, he stated, “I know they will perform. I expect them to perform, and I don’t expect them to fail.”
Dr. Amakye Boateng also reminded President Mahama and his appointees of the high expectations of the Ghanaian electorate, particularly after the NDC’s historic victory in the 2024 elections.
He cautioned that failure to deliver on their promises could lead to the electorate voting them out in the next election.
“The next election has already started in various ways. Ghanaians expect President Mahama to implement decisive measures to revive the economy and improve livelihoods,” he added.
President Mahama Swears in Six New Ministers
President John Dramani Mahama officially sworn in six newly approved ministers following their parliamentary confirmation on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Jubilee House, marks the beginning of their pivotal roles in government, signaling the administration’s unwavering commitment to tackling pressing national issues.
The first batch of ministerial appointees, each approved after thorough vetting by the Appointments Committee, includes:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance
- Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General
- John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition
- Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education
- Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways
In his remarks during the ceremony, President Mahama expressed strong confidence in the new ministers, emphasizing that their expertise and dedication will drive the transformative agenda promised to Ghanaians.
He stressed that the roles they are taking on are crucial to the country’s growth and development in areas such as economic recovery, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
