President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has named a six-member interim team to oversee national security matters ahead of the appointment of permanent officials.

The team, set to begin its work on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, will coordinate the security operations during the transition period.

The team will be chaired by Prosper Douglas Bani, the former Minister for the Interior. A statement released by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Special Aide to the President-Elect, provided the full list of appointees:

  • Prosper Douglas Bani – Former Minister for the Interior (Chairman)
  • Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.) – Former Chief of Defence Staff
  • Kofi Totobi Quakyi – Former Minister for National Security
  • Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq. – Former National Security Coordinator
  • Brigadier General Fuseinu Iddrissu (Rtd.)
  • COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd.)

This interim team is tasked with ensuring the smooth and effective management of national security affairs as the new administration settles into office.
