Ghanaian actor and film producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lilwin, has shared the hefty amount he invested in his movie A Country Called Ghana, particularly revealing the cost of securing Nigerian actor Ramsey Noah for a role in the film.
Lilwin disclosed that he paid Ramsey Noah more than $40,000 for his appearance. He also mentioned that while he had initially considered other actors, some were asking for higher fees, and one actor even raised his rates after mistakenly thinking Lilwin was Nigerian.
Lilwin went on to explain that the $40,000 did not cover additional costs like accommodation and meals for Noah.
Additionally, Lilwin opened up about the significant financial commitment he made to promote the film. He revealed that he spent over one million Ghana cedis on the promotional efforts, which included purchasing a Benz to help generate buzz.
He credited the attention the car attracted as one of the reasons ministers and MPs attended the premiere in Accra.
As part of the extensive marketing campaign, Lilwin put up over twenty billboards and distributed more than four thousand T-shirts.
The movie A Country Called Ghana created a lot of excitement and was widely discussed in Ghana throughout the previous year, with premieres held in both Accra and Kumasi.
