Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a former hopeful for the New Patriotic Party’s leadership, has issued a stern caution to his party as they approach the 2024 general elections.

He drew parallels between the current campaign and the events of 2008, highlighting a tendency towards complacency that could be detrimental.

Kennedy Agyapong recalled how, during the 2008 elections, the NPP focused on entertaining supporters with music and dancing on platforms while the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) effectively engaged in grassroots campaigning. This strategy ultimately led to their defeat.

“I’ve seen this before. In 2008, while we were busy with performances, the NDC was out there campaigning door-to-door, and we all know how that turned out for us,” he remarked. “I’m optimistic, but I won’t be convinced until after the elections.”

Speaking at a campaign event for NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the Esikado-Ketan Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong urged the party to remain vigilant and proactive in their approach to the upcoming December 7 elections.

The current campaign has featured performances from popular artists like King Paluta, Eno Barony, Praye, and Wendy Shay, adding an entertainment element to their rallies.
