Lawson Afisem: DNA Confirms 45-Year-Old Man as Biological Father of Baby Born to Woman with Hearing and Speech Impairment
DNA test clears doubts and confirms paternity

- DNA test confirms 45-year-old man is baby’s father
- Baby’s mother is deaf and mute
- Man accepts responsibility after initial denial
On a recent episode of Afisem on Lawson TV/Radio, DNA test results brought clarity to a sensitive family situation involving 45-year-old Charles Donkor and a 3-month-old baby named Yaw.
The mother, Maame Esi, who is both deaf and mute, appeared on the show hosted by Maame Frimpongmaa Korankye, communicating through sign language.
She shared that she and Charles Donkor had been close on several occasions.
Charles Donkor initially denied being the father of the baby, suggesting that another man might have been involved. To settle the matter, he requested a DNA test.
The test, conducted using genetic material from the baby and Maame Esi, showed a 99.9999% match, confirming that Charles Donkor is the biological father. When the results were revealed live on June 24th, 2025, Charles, though initially hesitant, accepted the findings and committed to caring for the child.
Maame Esi’s parents expressed their gratitude for the resolution and requested reimbursement for the expenses related to the care of Maame Esi and the baby, which have totaled over GHC 110,000.
The Afisem program continues to share heartfelt stories and meaningful conversations every Monday to Friday on Lawson TV/Radio.
