Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, has reiterated the government’s stance that public funds will not be allocated for the construction of the controversial National Cathedral.
He emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama remains resolute in this commitment.
“The president made it clear that public funds will not be used for this project,” Kwakye Ofosu asserted.
Sharing his own viewpoint, the Minister expressed his belief that the country does not need a national cathedral. He suggested that if religious organizations wish to build one, they should seek land from the government and fund the project themselves.
However, he firmly stated that taxpayer money should not be invested in the project.
Kwakye Ofosu underscored that this position has been consistently supported by President Mahama, with no public money allocated to the construction of the cathedral. “President Mahama will not use GHS400 million of taxpayers’ money for that project,” he concluded.
