Kumasi’s Most Wanted: Police Launch Manhunt for ‘Baba Macho’ Over MoMo Vendor Murders
Authorities urge the public to help track down the fugitive linked to a string of violent robberies and killings in the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched an intensive search for Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah, alias “Baba Macho,” in connection with the robbery and murder of a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.
Described as a dangerous fugitive, Amoah is believed to be hiding in Kumasi, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Accra, or the Central Region. His name surfaced following the recent spate of MoMo vendor killings, with three suspects already in police custody.
The region has been rocked by a series of violent attacks on MoMo vendors, with three deaths recorded in the past two months. In two of these cases, firearms were used.
The first incident occurred on February 13, 2025, at Krofrom, where Patricia Nimako was shot and killed in front of her shop. A second attack happened on March 10, when Gideon Owusu Sarpong, alias “Junior,” was robbed and murdered at his residence in Kwadaso.
The arrested suspects, Charles Kwame Danso, 23 (alias “Kwame Charles” or “Miami”); Philip Foujour, 29; and Samuel Audae Mensah, 42, were taken into custody on March 21, 2025, in Pankrono and Atimatim.
Ashanti Regional Deputy Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe has urged the public to assist in tracking down Amoah. He encouraged anyone with information to contact the police via the toll-free numbers 191 or 112 (18555 for MTN and Telecel users).

In response to the rising crime, the Ashanti Regional Security Council has introduced new security measures, including increased police patrols, crackdowns on unregistered motorbikes, and safety training for MoMo vendors.
The police assure residents that they are committed to ensuring justice and restoring public safety. The arrested suspects remain in custody and will soon face trial.
