Kumasi to Get Major Road Overhaul as Mahama Pushes for Key Infrastructure Projects
President Mahama unveils plans to decongest Kumasi with the Western Bypass, Suame Interchange, and Kejetia Market Phase 2, promising funding solutions for stalled projects.

- Kumasi Western Bypass construction to start soon to ease heavy traffic congestion
- Suame Interchange and other road projects to get funding for speedy completion
- Kejetia Market Phase 2 set to resume after successful debt negotiations
President John Dramani Mahama has announced that construction of the Kumasi Western Bypass will soon commence under the ‘Big Push Programme.’
This major infrastructure project aims to reduce congestion, particularly for heavy-duty trucks passing through the city.
Speaking during a fellowship with the clergy, Mahama emphasized that the bypass would provide a crucial alternative route, connecting Mampong and Techiman roads through Ejisu.
He also assured the public of ongoing efforts to secure funding for the completion of other key projects, including the Suame Interchange and the stalled Kejetia Market Phase 2, which was affected by the debt exchange.
With negotiations now concluded with the official creditor committee, Mahama expressed optimism about resuming work soon.
